A Scottish Farm to Stay, Explore and Experience

Nether Glenny Farm - A quiet farm stay in the Menteith Hills

Nether Glenny Farm is a family-run hillside farm in the Menteith Hills, within Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. It combines low-impact farming, rewilding and thoughtful hospitality, offering peaceful self-catering accommodation, small-scale farm experiences and space to slow down.

This is a working farm, shaped by seasons, animals and care for the land. Guests stay in restored stone cottages or a secluded hillside bothy, surrounded by open views, wildlife and farmland, with direct access to hills and quiet country routes.

Whether you are visiting to stay, to walk, to experience the farm, or simply to spend time in a quieter landscape, Nether Glenny Farm offers space, care and a genuine connection to land and place.

Our home in the hills

In 2012, we left careers in teaching and the military to begin a new life on a 100-acre hillside farm in the Menteith Hills. With three young children, two dogs and little farming experience, we took on Nether Glenny with determination and care. From restoring old buildings to raising Highland cattle and welcoming guests, this is the story of how a shared vision became a working, sustainable farm over many changing years.

Our Story

A Place Shaped by Land and Sky

Nether Glenny Farm sits high in the Menteith Hills, where open moorland, long views and changing skies shape the rhythm of daily life. The land rolls and rises, with rough pasture, stone walls and pockets of woodland offering shelter to wildlife and livestock alike.

From early morning mist drifting across the hills to golden evening light settling over the fields, the landscape feels expansive and quietly reassuring. There is a deep sense of space here, broken only by birdsong, the wind moving through grass and the distant lowing of cattle.

At night, darkness returns fully, bringing wide star-filled skies and true stillness. The atmosphere is calm, grounded and restorative, offering time to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with the land and its natural pace.

“We stayed at The Bothy at Nether Glenny this October, right after getting married, and it was pure magic from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed; Matt and Alison are the kindest hosts, with a clear love and passion for what they do. The Bothy itself is a little slice of heaven, peaceful, beautifully designed, and surrounded by the most stunning views.”
